Polignano a Mare
Perched on a cliff above the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic, Polignano a Mare offers a breathtaking spectacle.
Located about 34 km south of Bari on the S16 highway, the origins of this enchanting place date back to the 4th century BC. Under the Romans, it flourished and was so important that Emperor Trajan had his Via Traiana, built between 108 and 110 AD, pass through the city. Among the remains of this road is the Lama Monachile bridge, north of the historic center.
On Sundays, the loggias are crowded with tourists from all over the world, who come here to watch the waves crash against the rocks, visit the sea caves, and crowd into the ice cream shops and pastry shops in the picturesque historic center. In June 2024, Polignano will host again the spectacular Red Bull Cliff Diving World championship.
Puglia
The beautiful sea, the intense light, the cities and villages rich in art and history, the fortified farmhouses, the coastal towers, the trulli, the countryside, the wheat fields, the olive trees, the flavors, the traditions... Puglia is an endless wonder.
A stay at Residenza Vico Moro is an excellent starting point for visiting the many picturesque locations in Puglia, such as the charming historic center of Monopoli, the characteristic Ostuni, known as the "white city", Alberobello, famous for its trulli recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Castel del Monte, Trani… Fifteen kilometers away, there are also the Castellana Caves, which stretch for 3348 meters to a depth of 122 meters from the surface.
At the gates of Polignano a Mare, then, unfolds the Itria Valley, with Locorotondo and Cisternino and its typical farmhouses where you can stock up on gastronomic and artisanal products.
